This limited Hannover Edition Blue Star Multivan is a 1990 watercooled example in excellent condition. The history files of Der VW Transporter looks at the quirky marketing publications relating to the Westfalia VW Campers of 1963 and 1964. Is it a boat? is the title of the brochure – had VW created an amphibious version of the already successful Volkswagen van. Of course not, but what they were highlighting with new-found humour in their marketing style was the skylight, now commonly referred to as a submarine hatch. www.kombilifemagazine.com

Known as a Campmobile Day Camper, the interior has been immaculately maintained and comprises a Z-bed, sink, icebox refrigerator, closet and table. The mustard coloured fabric used to cover the seats is unique to this year of vehicle. The engine is a 1700 cc and it’s fitted with an automatic gearbox making for a relaxed driving experience. www.kombilifemagazine.com
