Little Malaysia. City. Liverpool Street. Cheap and cheerful. Menu can be hit and miss, but this place could survive on its perfect roti chanai alone.
Cumulus Inc. City. Flinders Lane between Exhibition and Spring. Grab a seat at the front bar and share some delicate plates. The crumbed pigs tail with escargot is a highlight.
Taxi Dining Room. City. Federation Square. Taxi has it all, a beautiful modern space, fabulous views, amazing modern Japanese food and a wine list to match. The degustation is very special.
Maha. City. Bond Street. Modern middle eastern. Great for vegetarians, but omnivores shouldn't miss the 12 hour lamb.
Gingerboy. City. Crossley Street. Asian hawker style food. Not a fan of the decor, but the food is amazing, especially the desserts. Keep an eye out for special tasting menus.
Ezard. City. Flinders Lane between Swanston and Russell. This one's for special occasions. Ezard is my first love for Thai fusion. I even bought the cookbook to try and recreate that divine wagyu red curry.
Mart 130. Albert Park. Catch the 96 tram, Mart is the station house at Middle Park - stop 130. Great for brunch and worth the wait. Try the corn fritters.
Roule Galette. City. Off Flinders Lane between Swanston and Elizabeth. Authentic French sweet crepes and savoury galettes. Have one of each!
Cookie. City. Swanston between Collins and Lonsdale. Excellent modern Thai. Try the Penang lamb and eggplant curry with some roti.
Chin Chin. City. Flinders Lane between Russell and Exhibition. Great space, great vibe, great food. OTT no bookings policy - go early or put your name down before heading for pre-dinner drinks.
