Pit bulls have a bit of a vicious reputation. But photographer Sophie Gamand has set out to capture the breed's softer side by showing the dogs in a series of dreamy floral portraits. Proving that the sporty luxe trend has jumped the shark is elite track runner Maggie Vessey's racing kit. The 32-year-old partnered with LA-based designer Merlin Castell. On her black and white creation she told 'Runner's World': "For the semis, I knew they were going to be at night, and so I wanted to honour that moment. I took the opportunity to go with a more eveningwear look with the black and white and the bow on the shoulder." She placed 7th.

Sad news to hear that Africa's last polar bear, Wang, died in the Johannesburg Zoo this week. His keepers say the 30-year-old fur ball died of a broken heart after his female companion of 27-years, GeeBee died in January. Sorry to burden you with that 'The Notebook' sequel, so here's a photo of a baby polar bear to cheer us up.
