Tanya McArthur's marble cake as featured in this week's Good Food section of The Sydney Morning Herald. Please note the recipe in the first edition of the cookbook contains an error as a result of a production issue - not the fault of the cook or the author. It should read 220 grams butter and 250 grams of castor sugar. The recipe is correct in Good Food.

Australia's forgotten cakes When did you last make jelly cakes, a jam sponge roll or a marble cake? Here are three recipes.

A stunning effort, inspired by the Pinch of Salt Sponge recipe that Bow Hill show cook Margret Green kindly contributed to my first book.

The Great Australian sponge cake: so dependable and so versatile. Just like a pair of blue jeans.

Last weekend I returned to my home town, Mt Gambier, to launch the book and talk about the challenges of collecting family recipes as part of the inaugural Rotary Book Fair. Casterton show cook Bettina Kent made a special trip with her Mum and daughter Violet to be there. To celebrate here is the photo of her amazing peanut butter swirl slice as featured in the cookbook

Today we have a tale about a dog, Sultan. True to his labrador breed, he won the Champion Chewer event at the Foster show in Gippsland for about 10 years straight. Even being handicapped with twice as much food as any other dog didn't stop him. His owners, the Goldie family, had so much fun they started entering other things too, including cookery. Eva Goldie shares her rocky road recipe in the cookbook.
