The SA Country Fire Service is a volunteer based fire service. Many parts of Australia are sparsely populated whilst at the same time they are under significant risk of bushfire. Due to economics, it is prohibitively expensive for each Australian town or village to have a paid fire service (department). The compromise adopted is to have government funded equipment and training but volunteer fire-fighters to perform the duties of regular fire-fighters.

The Hills Youth Theatre is unique in that it is the only youth theatre in South Australia with its ‘own theatre’. All of the company’s classes and productions are held within the walls of the Stirling Community Theatre. This is an enormous advantage to students as they are able to rehearse and perform in the same space and have a sense of ‘home’. This also means that HYT is lucky enough to have a large collection of resources and support to back up their productions and classes.
Marion Bowling Club is a large and powerful club on the South Australian bowling scene, with 5 high quality tift dwarf bowling greens, maintained by their full time green keeping crew. The Happy Valley Tennis Club has undergone a $2.2m redevelopment and now boasts the most modern facility in SA with 10 hardcourts and another 2 new courts next year. Contestants compete in the Washington National Cathedral's Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Washington, D.C. Because of inclement weather, the races were held in the nave of the Cathedral.
