18th January 1977 at Granville, south-west Sydney. Site of Australia's worst rail disaster where the 6.09am commuter train from Mt Victoria in the Blue Mountains jumped the tracks and slammed into the pylons of the Bold Street Bridge at Granville which collapsed onto the third and fourth carriages. 83 people died, over 200 injured and more than 1300 were traumatized. In 1998, a telemovie, 'The Day of the Roses', was made and dealt with the coronial inquiry into the accident.
