Task 2 (a) Honeycomb Exploration

Working with tracing paper and wheat paste in the pursuit of the properties of light and translucency, biomorphic forms emerge through layering and patterns that recall the organic fabrics that make up the natural world.

In order to create a bleached finish to the honeycombs I've added white gouache to the wheatpaste. As it drys the paste takes on a distinctive semi translucence allowing light to dance on the surface and illuminate the inner chambers.

Using a soldering iron to create a distressed honeycomb that is in decay. This technique erodes the fabric of the honeycomb in a very destructive manner creating a unique sense of decay.
