This is the same photograph as a previous one shown below but I changed the editing style to make it less obvious (yellow split toning). This is my selected final photograph for the theme of "Far." It is a representation of the feelings I encountered when I first arrived to Australia, that uncertainty but wonder and excitement at the same time.
Near: In this photograph I took this idea of brightness to another extent. I really wanted to emphasise on it and I believe I accomplished my goal. I'm very happy with the overall result of this photograph, I think it properly conveys my vision of "nearness" in the concept of "comfort," "warmness" and "home." The dream-like editing style helps to create this effect, with the soft colour palette I chose to give it.
I followed the same style as one of the other photographs in terms of using a low contrast, black and white style of edit. I think this allowed me to get a better even tonality in the whole photographs, while still maintaining that mysterious, eerie feel to it.
Black and white edit. High contrast. Felt it worked better but it still is not portraying the feeling I'm going for. Also, it's still very similar to the photographic style I'm using for the "near" photograph.
One of my possible options for my final photographs, it shows a different side of the forest, giving an atmosphere of a hostile environment. I reduced the contrast of the photograph to give it this faded look. I also made it black and white to emphasise on this idea of a "wild" landscape. The side lighting in this photograph also helped to set a dramatic atmosphere.
FAR: One of my possible options for the final photographs. I think this is my strongest image for the theme of "far." The mood set for this photograph is completely different from the other final option for the theme of (…), in terms of style and the way I showed the lighting of the location. It also gives the impression that it is a different forest to the other, achieving the objective of the assignment.
Another of my possible options for the final selection of photographs. It is the same photograph but this one is a colour version. I personally prefer the feeling of this photograph over the black and white version of it, however; the feeling it conveys is very similar to my other contrasting options for this landscape. I also think the overall aesthetic is very similar, with the warm side lighting of the afternoon sunlight.
