I only realized this now, but this is very comparable to the final scene in the design of my game; protagonist experiences loss unjustly. In both cases, the world the protagonists live in is trying to cause harm (physically or emotionally.) Both try hard to just fit in/stay out of the way of others... Then finally, the last straw.
