Edison's musical talent
Did you know that simple musical tunes are a great example of sequence in action? Using Edison and EdScratch, students can create music and tie together sequence and inputs-outputs into enjoyable programs. Find this activity and more one hour lessons on the website! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #Edisonrobots #coding #learntocode #HourofCode #HoC2022
Barcode Programming with Edison
The special Edison robot barcodes let you kick-start your exploration of Edison using pre-set programs, control Edison like a remote-control car, or create your own remote-control programming masterpieces! Learn more about Edison and barcode programming on our website! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots
Barcode Programming with Edison!
Barcode programming is a great place to get started with Edison which is why barcodes are included as an early activity in all of the Edison lesson plans. Using barcodes with Edison robots is one of the most unique and fun ways to use your robot. Even if you are brand new to Edison, getting started with barcodes is easy. Barcodes let anyone get started with Edison — no matter your coding experience! Each Edison robot comes with pre-set programs already loaded in the robot’s memory. To activate the program, you simply need to scan the correct barcode! Learn more about barcode programming on our website. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #Edisonrobots #barcodes #computerscience
Let's Turn with Edison
In the EdBlocks activity 'Let's turn,' students explore new blocks inside the EdBlocks app and are given the task of programming Edison to make two different time controlled turns. This activity reinforces the concept that everything you program Edison to do requires both an action and a duration. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #EdBlocks
Detect and Avoid - Hour of Code Activity
It's Hour of Code week 2022! In this new Edison Hour of Code activity, introduce the key computational concepts of loops and an understanding of infrared light using Edison robots and the block based programming language, EdBlocks. Find this activity and more one hour lessons on our website! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #Edisonrobots #coding #learntocode #HourofCode #HoC2022
Robot Sumo Wrestle
It's a classroom favourite but did you know that the 'sumo wrestle' feature of Edison combines two of Edison's programs to work - bounce in borders and obstacle detection! Find this fun activity in the EdBlocks lesson activities! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #EdBlocks
Let's Turn with Edison!
In the EdBlocks student activities (activity 11), students explore new blocks inside the EdBlocks app and are given the task of programming Edison to make two different time controlled turns. This activity reinforces the concept that everything you program Edison to do requires both an action and a duration. It further encourages students to experiment with the user-input time blocks as a means of programming Edison to carry out tasks. Find this free EdBlocks activity and more on our website. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #EdBlocks
Edison and EdBlocks Road Map
It's time to get creative with Edison. In the EdBlocks lesson activities students create a road map that Edison can drive on. The map can be of your own town, a busy city scene or a farm for Edison to help on. The choice is yours! Find this activity and many more on our website! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #EdBlocks
Sumo Wrestle with Edison robots
Get ready for fun! In EdBlocks activity 7 students program Edison using a pre-set barcode program to enable multiple Edison robots to engage in a sumo-style battle! Find this classroom favourite activity and teaching tips and tricks on our website! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #sumowrestle
Let's drive with Edison and EdBlocks!
Let's drive with EdBlocks! In EdBlocks activity 10, students are asked to program Edison to drive forward for a set distance. This activity introduces the important concept that everything you program Edison to do requires both an action and a duration! Find this free activity and more on our website. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #EdBlocks
Smart Streetlights Challenge
Turn Edison into a smart street lamp that automatically turns on the lights when the sun goes down, then turns them off when it’s bright outside once again. This challenge is a great real-world application of Edison’s sensors, perfect for a single lesson session. Find this community made challenge (and more) on our website. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots
Bounce in borders activity
In this activity, students program Edison using a barcode which activates a pre-set program preventing Edison from crossing a dark coloured line. Once the pre-set program is activated, the Edison robot will drive until it encounters a dark coloured line. It will then turn around and drive a different direction without crossing that line. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots #EdBlocks
Follow a torch
In the EdBlocks activity, follow a torch, students program Edison using a barcode which activates a pre-set program enabling Edison to drive by following the light of a torch. The follow a torch program uses the Edison robot’s light sensors to detect differences in the levels of light between the robot’s two sensors. Once the pre-set program is activated, the Edison robot will drive towards the higher light level. #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots
Detect Obstacles with Edison
In this activity, Detect Obstacles, students create a program which has Edison avoid driving into obstacles by using the robot’s infrared (IR) light LEDs and IR sensor to detect objects directly in front of the robot. This activity further explores how the infrared light sensors work in Edison and gets students to test what obstacles can and cannot be detected. Find this EdBlocks activity and more on the website! #STEM #STEAM #edtech #coding #learntocode #Edisonrobots
