Honestly no hate at all here I love the fact people are willing to do these jobs... | By That 40 Year Guy | Right so this one's for the DIYers who paint their panelling okay there's no hate here I just see it getting done all the time and you're doing it wrong I just want to show you how I do it so you can do it right and do a job that's going to last first thing you do hoover it down dust it all off and then get yourself a decent primer I'm using half primer here with Capiro and it's mixing the same colour as a top coat which is Railins by Farrow and Bull then get yourself a brush and then you prime up the detailed areas or anywhere really that a roller won't work. So cut it in, roll out the centres. Watch out for splinters that would have hurt if it went up my thumbnail. Um and then you can start rolling it rolling out all the flats. Now if you want it to finish it with a rolled finish. I'm using a microfibre arrowworthy roller here. Um I wouldn't recommend it for oil based but definitely water based. Um if you want a nice finish roll it out so it goes fluffy like that and then lightly press over the paint and it'll go nice and flat that shine. Lovely. Then you can go on with filling. Alright and I'm using Paint Warrior with fillover you can use whatever you like and push it in and pull it down. Push it in. Put it down just like so. Once all that's done and it's dried then you can sand it down again. Alright. I'm using the Rhino Soft Endassa pads. You can buy them singly. I use a lot of them so I buy them in the rolls and this is why I love these pads so much because you can just roll it up. Look. Get it straight in there and let it shape to the detail that you're working with so you can sand every little bit down properly. Even on external curves like that. That's exactly what you want to be doing. Get it nice and smooth and on the edges I use a square block. Um this is a 00 grit block because that's the edge that you want to cork. Then dust it all down again and then you can go on with your cork. Now the thing is the reason I'm doing this video is because I see a lot of people they do the panelling and then they go straight on with cork and filler before any it's a big no no you don't fill or cook any raw materials so plaster wood all needs to be primed and prepped first then you do this and then you're ready to
