Melbourne City in the Past

John Batman for the Port Phillip Association in Van Diemen's Land purchased 600,000 acres from eight Wurundjeri elders In 1835 to found Melbourne declaring "this will be the place for a village". Swanston St Melbourne late 1970s. It;s amazing to think that this street hardly resembles this picture in 2013. Sure it's now a tram and pedestrian thoroughfare i like the older version with the CUB in the distance. In fact give me old melbourne over this current day need to be shiny and all modern with shoeboxes lining the city.
