I shot this image because of the way this man was looking on the phone, he seems totally distant from the world around him; only focusing on his phone call.
I think this image works really well, compared to the other shadow image - I like how his shadow takes up most of the frame and that there is a common black and white connection between his pants and the road crossing.
I wanted to go for something different because the second time I went out shooting the light was shining perfectly down the lan. I decided to play with shadows of the people rather than shooting a full frame image.
Once again I went for a symmetrical shot, I liked this frame because of the dark bricks on one side mirroring the dark dumpsters on the other side - I also like that the woman sitting alone creates questions about why she is sitting in an empty alleyway alone.
I like this image because of the reflection of the man smoking and everyone walking around him - I also like how it seems like he is hiding and waiting, combined with his 'sinister' look.
I wanted to revisit these workers on the rope, this time I went for a front on, symmetrical image, which I think I like better than the first image I shot.
I like this image because even though this man is in his formal business suit he is just simply sitting on a step eating his lunch, occupied by his phone.
I like this image, you can see the sheer amount of packages that he has to deliver and again, his sole focus is on the job at hand - ignoring everything else in the environment.
I shot this image because of the connection between the man and ad on the windows, I felt this was a good connection between them but not the best executed image.
Again I shot this image because of the people just going about their daily lives without taking into account anyone else. You have the guy taking a photo and most of the other people just ignoring each other.
Once again I shot this for both the repetition and the symmetry present in this image. You have 3 levels of the building visible and then you have 3 parts of scaffolding coming out of the building, in a way replicating the buildings levels.
I mainly like this image for the pairs and contrast between the two, you have two people wearing black in the light area of the image and in contrast to this you have the man wearing the white blazer and the white coffee cup in the shadows - creating a double up of opposites.
I like this shot, the framing of the subjects slightly to the left adds depth to the image. I also feel that these men having coffee is a perfect example of the culture of Melbourne that is so visible in this location.
I shot this because even though this man is wearing a high-viz jacket, most people are ignoring him and continuing on their day. So it is ironic, the high-viz is meant to draw attention, yet no one is taking notice of him.
I shot this image because I like the moment the older couple were having discussing the jewellery in the window, I personally feel that I didn't expose correctly and lost detail in their faces.
This is probably my favourite shot of my time shooting, the symmetry of the two poles as well the sign saying 'Keep clear at all times' as well as the security cameras watching him combines to create an interesting image in my opinion.
I shot this image because I thought it would be interesting to have a photo inside a photo, but unfortunately the composition and technical execution isn't good enough.
This another one of my favourites from my time shooting, mainly because of the doubles. You have two women walking out, both holding cups (Which matches the sign) and then two men lining up.
I shot this image for a few reasons, firstly I found it interesting that an airline from Dubai has an office in the middle of Melbourne and secondly that you could create the questions 'Is this lady on the Phone booking some kind of holiday?' I however, don't feel that I executed this image very well technically.
I really like this image, there is so much different movement occurring in this frame, with not one person paying attention to anyone else - I felt this was a perfect example of what city life can be like.
