I didn't see the riot grrrl manifesto until I was at uni in the 1990s, but I have so many positive associations to music of this type that it thrills me to have found this re-post of the Bikini Kill zine.

Track 1 "BMFA" includes my favourite line from a MW song thus far: "Poetry is no place for a heart that's a whore". One of my poems uses this line as its title (credited of course) and I am sure the Martha connection is part of the reason why that 2009 poem has amassed over 1500 views in five years: http://marthawainwright.com/marthanewwebsite/bloody-motherfucking-asshole-ep/

Coldplay is mixed for me, but today this song - Ghost Story - has been popping into my head repeatedly. It is on the EP "A Sky Full Of Stars". I think it is because I'm writing a story about grief/disappearance & these lines are in my heart: "Everytime I try to pull you close/ You disappear"

I like these opening lyrics: "For a second I was in control/ I had it once I lost it though" Not related to current situation. Memories...

I'm standing in a suit as ragged as my nerves. Roland S. Howard, Shut Me Down, on Teenage Snuff Film (2001) and Pop Crimes (2009).

Brittle Sun are a Melbourne roots trio. The small stature of vocalist Viki Mealings contrasts the strength, beauty and power of her voice, in both spoken and sung words. ‘Sun Gonna Rise’ is currently my fave, but competition is fierce. Highly recommend checking 'em out on youtube or at a Melbourne gig :)
