In 1973, the Victorian Government commissioned Harold Freedman to paint The Transport Mural. It was featured across the width of the main hall of the former Spencer Street Station. pic. Rennie Ellis collection. State Library of Victoria. since the rebuilding of Spencer St Station into the modern Southern Cross Station the mural disappeared and then was unceromoniously hung in a nearby discount shopping mall. It could of been a great tribute in the new station.
