When we began work on this project the grand staircase was…less than grand. It had been closed off from the parlor during a previous renovation, so the space was tight, dark, and a bit claustrophobic. A previous owner had stripped back the wall to expose the brick underneath to give the home a more “modern” feel. That didn’t fit with the Parisian vibe we were bringing in. We immediately saw potential for this staircase, and knew we could add back some of the home’s original character.
