Miss Rachael's latest project, a Retro Butterick pattern B5880 from 1951. Rachael was inspired to make this design to wear in fashions on the field at the races. She chose a black delustered satin, and accessorised with her aunts vintage faux fur stole, red vintage shoes, and enlisted a local milliner to create her a very gorgeous, and stylish animal print hat. We made two changes to the pattern; we added a centre back seam sew the dress could be zipped at the back rather than the side. The…

Twelve months ago a gorgeous lady by the name of Beth contact me. She had an idea to redesign her wedding dress, with intentions to wear it for her 3rd wedding anniversary,. I am always up for a challenge, and was very honored to be tasked for this project. Beth's inspiration was a Zimmerman design worn by the beautiful Duchess of Cambridge. I loved working with Beth, we found a pattern, Butterick 6164, which was similar in style, sew very carefully I dismantled her wedding gown and remade…

This week I had a dinner to attend, sew I made myself a new dress. My pattern choice was Vogue 1348. Adding the lace overlay required more thought, as I wanted it to be seperate to the under fabric in the skirt, I am very pleased with the end result. #vogue1348 #sewhappy #ilovesewing #notsewhard

I had a 1920s themed function to attend, sew I made myself a cloche hat. I have never made a hat before, sew this was something new for me. If you are an intermediate seamstress who likes vintage, and bygone era styles of headwear, I highly recommend a little store on Etsy called 'Elsewhen Millinery'. The patterns are well written and easy to follow. #elsewhenmillinery #lucilleclochehat #cloche #imadeahat #notsewhard
