Pearson and Law Ltd operated from Gertrude St Fitzroy in 1911 manufacturing business shirts after having originally embarked on a business partnership in 1906. In 1917 James Pearson and James Law, created the Pelaco name by combining the first two letters of each partner's surname. In 1922 Pelaco was based at Goodwood St in Richmond while the iconic Pelaco sign (now heritage listed) was built in 1939.
