July 1925: Joe Petrali in the pits at the AMA 100-mile championship in Altoona, Penn. Petrali had been set to race for Indian that day, but they’d shipped his bike to Pittsburg. A distraught Petrali was forced to watch until Ralph Hepburn crashed during practice. Unable to ride himself, Hepburn offered Petrali his H-D two cam bike if he agreed to split his winnings. Petrali agreed and won, setting an unbroken board track record of 100.36 mph.
