c. 1991: Tony Benn’s secret suffragette plaque in the Houses of Parliament. This plaque to Emily Wilding Davison was put up by Tony Benn MP. Benn in the House of Commons in 2001: “I have put up several plaques—quite illegally. One was in the broom cupboard to commemorate Emily Wilding Davison, and another celebrated the people who fought for democracy. If one walks around this place, one sees statues of people, not one of whom believed in democracy, votes for women or anything else." This is without a doubt the BEST argument I've ever seen for the pro choice debate. Basically what this says is this: every person has the unalienable right to control their own body, to maintain & keep that control & to decide what they do with it. Every person has control over their body and no one else. Even when fetuses, unborn children, are taken into consideration, the woman (and her body) does and should always take precedent.
