The Miniature Schnauzer was bred in 15th-century Germany for killing rats. It is less noisy quarrelsome than most terriers and is easy to train. It does, however, still bark prodigiously remains fairly nervous. As the Miniature Schnauzer has gained in popularity, some indiscriminate breeders have allowed in inherited medical problems. The Miniature Schnauzer is good with children and other dogs comfortable in an urban environment. It tolerates cold well, but not heat.
