With the basement walls and ceiling opened up, we now have access to the underside of our stair railings. Changes are coming, we're saying adieu to the orange oak spindles and hello to clean and simple. I've had a horizontal rail design in mind for the past few years, and this gorgeousness from @milkandhoneyhome is the perfect example of what I want. Sleek, straight lines, white and bright. I can't wait to make the change, though I'll have to until the time is right.
Mortised this beam together for the heavy duty hand railing. Banisters are 1.5" iron piping which is pegged on the opposite side to reflect the craft of what these beams were actually used for. Makes you wonder what you are walking into as you approach the basement. Sets the tone for the rest.
