If you can see see the "oil canning" in-between the vertical frames in the bow. The straight up and down frames are very strong, and spaced close together, but the plating or skin in-between has been stretch and deformed by all the endless pound of waves, and is witness to the impacts of the boat going the opposite direction of the liquid energy coming at it. It will be worse, the deformation down by the waterline, where the ice has done the same sort of work, but in an even more solid way.
