Les Forts from 2006; extremely bright colour so still has backbone, not much softening though it may never go fully supple; definitely cabernet with the vegetal and mint/grass notes; fair wine.

One outstanding wine; mature yes, but the level of cabernet franc complexity; spice, mint really vexed the palate. Looking for another great bottle of Ausone now.

Lovely wine; brute in its expression because it is 2009 vintage talking; huge wine for 80% merlot, 20% franc, only 14% but tastes higher, and fruit exceptionally expressive; black fruits/ripe plums; long time before it settles, or so it indicates at present. Just a passing comment really, needs regular tasting updates in 3 year increments to be sure.

Found this outstanding, clever wine because the body builds from layers of plush, ripe tannins, then overcome by chocolate from ripeness; underneath that is dryness, excellent wine, drink 20-40 years+.

Felt like I was at the primeurs-L'Evangile presenting its 2013 blend; with fairness, wine is on the light textured side, plainly-made so not to over-invest time and resources; expect a correct and lesser wine from this property in this year; more flowers of aromatic merlot than ripe tannin depth from franc.

A real find-if you like brutish merlot from a lesser known AC; this is Cotes de Bourg; monster, drinks well for two days, 15%.
