Lassi Ralli quilt, Saami People, probably made in Sindh, Pakistan, circa 1960-1980, purchase made possible through James Foundation Acquisition Fund, 79 x 53 in. An interesting aspect of this quilt is that its base fabric is an ajrak—a traditional red, blue, and white block-printed fabric made in up to sixteen separate steps. Ajrak fabrics are more often seen on the back of a ralli.
Ralli quilt, probably made in Cholistan, Punjab, Pakistan, circa 1950-1960,82 x 50.5 in. This ralli combines the solid feel of nine-patch geometric blocks with appliqué blocks and wide borders. The burgundy and deep gold colors, as well as embellishments on the edge (particularly with metal pieces that jingle together), are popular. This is a dowry quilt given to a Cholistani woman who was married to a Sindh man and moved to Sindh.

It's a nice background color for all the various prints and colors on the plates.~ Postcards from the Ridge
