I've done a modification of this Eric Carle artwork with my students. Day # 1 kids painted pieces of 8x10 paper one single colour (but with variations of the shade and texture). We probably had 100 pieces of paper when the 10 minutes was up. After letting them dry, on Day # 2, kids were able to make creations (animals or other scenes) using any paper they wanted - we shared all the colours of paper. This example of the butterfly sticks with one colour, but we used lots!
