Tunic, from Peru, Inca, 1500. Re-pinned by Elizabeth VanBuskirk on "Inca & Pre-Inca Textiles." Because the Inca empire was centered in the high mountains, relatively few great textiles from this period have survived. This rare and exquisite woven tunic shows small "symbols" which are studied with great interest. Do they represent Chiefs' tunics of captured or "controlled" other cultures?
