Evariste Galois ( 1811 - 1832 ) was a French mathematician. His work laid the foundations for "Galois Theory", a major branch of abstract algebra. He was the first to use the word "group" as a technical term in mathematics. A radical Republican during the monarchy of Louis Philippe in France, he died from wounds suffered in a duel under shadowy circumstances at the age of twenty.

James Chadwick, born in England in 1891. He studied at the Univ of Manchester and Cambridge. Chadwick is best know for his discovery of the Neutron. He named it the neutron because it lacked a charge. Chadwick was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for physics in 1935 and was also awarded the Hughes Model of the Royal Society in 1932. His discovery made it possible to create with a greater mass than uranium in the laboratory. Because of Chadwick's discovery, "nuclear fission" was discovered.
