Smith Lake - Spring Panorama by Lee Petersen on 500px An absolutely gorgeous day on Smith Lake in Fairbanks, Alaska. The trails are wet and muddy, but it's still worth it to venture out. The Chena River broke up yesterday, the Nenana River went out on Monday, the Tanana should go soon. Yay spring!
Chena Lakes, near Fairbanks, Alaska. It can get hot here in the summer, so bring a bathing suit, and this is the place to cool off. Different area for camping, swimming, fishing, and picnicking, and there is now a small playground and shower area.
Watching this morning's sunrise from Fairbanks, Alaska. Beautiful light in the sky, beautiful light filling our boreal forest. Today's sunrise was at 9:22 am - this was taken half an hour later at 9:52 am. We are currently losing 6 minutes 45 seconds of daylight every day. I've put together a small gallery from today here: http://www.lwpetersenphotography.com/Date/2014/October/2014-10-26/
Sunrise on January 1st 2011 near my home in Fairbanks, Alaska. These were some of the most vibrant colors that I have ever seen in the sky. Rarely is it necessary to desaturate an image because the colors are so overblown, but this was definitely one of those days. Printing Recommendations For a 380 ppi image: 5 x 10 in. panoramic print size (needs cropping) For a 250 ppi image: 8 x 16 in. panoramic print size (needs cropping)
