Talk about being your brothers' keeper. SPC4 Hector Santiago-Colon wanted to be a policeman, but NYPD required military veterans. He enlisted in the Army & went to Vietnam with B Co, 7th Cav, 1st Cav Div. On 28 June 1968, his unit engaged the Vietcong & an enemy soldier lobbed a hand grenade into their foxhole. Santiago tucked it into his stomach away from his comrades to absorb the blast. Santiago, survived by a fiance & 11 siblings, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1970.
