Otto Meyer (1912–1944) was an Obersturmbannführer (Lieutenant Colonel) in the Waffen SS, who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves.Meyer, an early SS volunteer, fought on the Eastern Front where he was given command of the 9th SS Panzer Regiment in Jan 1944. In June 1944 his division served in Normandy where Meyer distinguished both himself and his regiment by destroying over 300 allied tanks. He was killed crossing the River Seine on 28 August 1944.
