Gummo by Harmony Korine gives us a disturbing yet real look into the town he grew up in. Shocking, funny, sad, and strangely heartfelt, after getting through some of the scenes did I realize it is truly a beautiful film. There is something cherishing in this focus of an unseen America not familiar with cinema. Overlooked, but should be seen (by those who can stomach the disturbing).

Gummo is a 1997 American dystopian art film written and directed by Harmony Korine, starring Jacob Reynolds, Nick Sutton, Jacob Sewell, and Chloë Sevigny.
