Potato Pear Gratin -preheat oven to 375 -peel & thinly slice pototoes into a cold water bath -peel & thinly slice pears into cold water bath w/ touch of lemon juice -in saucepan, but cream, garlice, thyme & bring to boil slowly -grease dish with butter, strain pototes & pears and put on paper towel to dry -layer dish with potato, then pear -remove thyme & pour mixture over. cover w. grated parm  -cover w/ foil & bake 40 min -remove foil &  bake for 5 min to brown
