Report Shows Sustained Performance Gains by English Language Learners: Almost 64% of 4th-grade English language learners and 42% of 8th-grade English language learners met standards on the State math exam in 2008, up from 2003 rates of 36% and 14%, respectively. In both grades, data show that English language learners without special needs met standards on the math exam at the same rate as other students. The CEMEE team had worked with teachers and principals to accomplish this goal.
