What is a ‘Selvage’?: Selvage refers to the finished edges of your fabric. They’re finished along the length of the fabric, so the edges don’t fray/unravel. The piece of fabric that is cut for you at the fabric store is cut perpendicular to the selvage edges. The cut edges will be fraying, crooked and unraveling. So, your piece of fabric will always have two cut edges, and on either side, the two finished, neat selvage edges. Happy Sewing!
