If Agatha Christie had decided to write something akin to “Fifty Shades of Grey,” she might have ended up with “The Deep End” by Julie Mulhern. This certainly isn’t your grandmother’s cozy mystery, and I loved it. This is a Cozy Mystery with an edge. Ms. Mulhern walked a fine line in this mystery with a tantalizing topic while still being acceptable to most cozy readers.
I try to read every book that Katherine Hall Page writes as they are always outstanding. She is the award winning author of The Faith Fairchild Mystery series. Katherine Hall Page won the 1991 Agatha Award for Best First Novel for “The Body in the Belfry.” The fifteenth book in the series, “The Body in the Snowdrift”, won the 2006 Agatha Award for Best Mystery Novel. She is currently working on her twenty-second Faith Fairchild Mystery.
There are 15 books in this cozy mystery series, which features a likable middle-aged Private Investigator named Desiree Shapiro who has been a PI for more than 20 years.
