Route 66, Amarillo Texas--at the Big Texan--a very touristy, very big restaurant right on the Interstate. The fact that it is located along the route that was once the route that old ROUTE 66 took, made it all the more special. We loved stopping and shopping in their giftshop and just looking at everything even though it wasn't meal time when we were there.

If you’re traveling Route 66 from the east, this is the first thing you see when cross into Arizona. And it really gives you a nice taste of what to expect. You get some lovely scenery and a classic roadside attraction. And you definitely know you’re in the West. That pretty much sums up the Route 66 Arizona experience: scenery, attractions and the Wild West. Happy motoring!
