Dated 1902, this American hooked rug carries the initials “SG,” features a galoping horse flanked by chickens and measures 24 inches by 66 inches. Even with condition issues – including several tears, fading, surface dirt and a large patch – the rug earned $3,200 at Pook & Pook April 20, 2012, in Downingtown, Pa.
Carved Wooden Chickens...There are more chickens than people on earth, and they really CAN run around with their heads cut off. A Colorado chicken named Mike lived for eighteen months without his head. (Google him!) Hens lay about one egg per day. The color of the egg can be predicted by the color of the hen’s earlobes. White earlobes = white eggs. Red, brown or black earlobes = brown eggs. The darker the earlobe, the darker the egg. BAWK!
