Hat | Made in Great Britain by Atelier, 1989 | Materials: wool felt with applied silver-plated brass decoration, pierced and embossed | Atelier was established in 1984 by Julian Brogden, and originally specialised in jewellery. In 1986, Cathi Jordan became a partner in the business. They collaborated together to create inventive jewellery, accessories, and by the late 1980s, unusual headwear such as this bowler overlaid with a tracery of silver-plated brass | VA Museum, London
Vintage felt was reblocked, stiffened into pill box, brim was shaped into a fan for the top & sculpted side of the hat. Roses are shades of gold, cream and coffee fabrics. Roses cascade down to the front from dark to light. The pearls were scattered over the hat . Back of hat has two large roses next to fan shape and the edge of the hat was finished with the darker fabric, lined in cream.
