Max Interacting | This picture, taken by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2), shows a galaxy known as NGC 6872 in the constellation of Pavo (The Peacock). Its unusual shape is caused by its interactions with the smaller galaxy that can be seen just above NGC 6872, called IC 4970. They both lie roughly 300 million light-years away from Earth.

Diamond Planet. Credit: Swinburne Astronomy Productions. A Jupiter-mass planet orbiting the newly discovered pulsar PSR J1719-1438 is likely one gigantic diamond. The planet's ultra-high pressure has caused the carbon within it to crystallize into diamond.

Look for the Blood Red Moon on April 15/16, 2014. The total lunar eclipse arrives just after midnight on April 15. The bloody red color the moon takes on during an eclipse is caused by refraction of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere. April 15th's red moon begins a rare sequence of four total lunar eclipses expected over the next two years!!

Just Cause 3 review – a ridiculously enjoyable but stuttering ride

Emission Nebula NGC 248. The sheer observing power of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope is rarely better illustrated than in an image such as this. This glowing pink nebula, named NGC 248, is located in the Small Magellanic Cloud, just under 200 000 light-years away and yet can still be seen in great detail. Our home galaxy, the Milky Way, is part of a collection of galaxies known as the Local Group. Along with the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way is one of the Group’s most massive…

Three planet alignment over Egyptian pyramids…(I would just like to say, after having to delete so many negative and argument causing comments, I don't care if it isn't real, or if you think it's photoshopped. This was posted under Humor, not Science. It's a neat picture and I'll thank you to keep your negativity to yourselves. What caused this outburst of V838 Mon? For reasons unknown, star V838 Mon's outer surface suddenly greatly expanded with the result that it became the brightest star in the entire Milky Way Galaxy in January 2002.
