One of the Twelve Castles of  Japan Hirosaki Castle, Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture It was built in 1611 by the Tsugaru clan. It has a three-story donjon, with ramparts, gates and yagura. The surrounding Hirosaki Park is one of the most famous places in Japan. More than one million people enjoy the two thousand trees in the park during the Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival), usually during the Golden Weeks in April and May.

Hrad Hohenwerfen (německy Burg Hohenwerfen) stojí vysoko nad rakouského města Werfen v údolí Salzach, přibližně 40 km (25 mi) jižně od Salcburku. Zámek je obklopen Alpy Berchtesgaden a přilehlé pohoří Tennengebirge. Opevnění je "sestra" z hradu Hohensalzburg oba pochází z 11. století.
