Schiacciata alla Fiorentina (credits: Tuscanycious and fudzu on Flickr). Made with a base of pasta and bread that is sweet, soft, and light. The dough is made using simple ingredients, in which the Tuscan olive oil takes the place of butter or lard. Widely consumed during Carnival, it is covered with icing sugar and with a “Giglio” (lily) of Florence in cocoa at the centre.
