The art nouveau metro entrance sculptural entrance signs developed by Hector Guimard are as much a part of the iconography of Paris as are the major architectural sites. Hector Guimard, an architect, who is now the best-known representative of the French Art Nouveau style of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
