Addition Practice: Take a baggie and draw a line down the middle with a permanent marker. Add any type of manipulative you have. Move the manipulative and record the math sentence. Be sure to stress that the equal sign means the same as and can be on either side of the equation.
Sight word activities: Another fun way for kiddos to do word work for Daily 5 or just practice. She printed off her Play-doh sight word cards on orange paper and then had children form the words with seasonal erasers that she bought at Target's Dollar spot. Cute idea.
Apple fingerplay. Say the rhyme below and let the kids take turns removing an apple from the tree. "(Five) red apples hanging in a tree. The juiciest apples that you ever did see! The wind came by and gave an angry frown And one little apple came tumbling down!"
