How to move hostas... this gardener recommends tying & taping the plant with rope & masking tape.  Then after plant is dug up, drop it back into the hole 2 times to remove big clumps of dirt; then watering it in it's new hole and THEN backfilling with dirt & watering AGAIN.  I will have to try this.

Hostas are widely cultivated as shade-tolerant foliage plants. The genus is currently placed in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae, and is native to northeast Asia (China, Japan, Korea, and the Russian Far East).

It does well in part shade to full shade and gets white flowers that appear early summer. Be patient with this slow grower, as it make take several seasons to reach it's full growth potential.
