Troops of the Royal Hungarian Army are given a joyful welcome by the people of Northern Transylvania as they march in to secure the region. Northern Transylvania was home to over 1 million ethnic-Hungarians (the majority of the region's population) who found themselves displaced after the Treaty of Trianon, signed after the Great War which transferred control of the land to Romania. Following the signing of the Second Vienna Award in 1940, the region was returned to Hungary from Romania.
