Life in Paris under Nazi occupation (May 1940 - August 1944) Part 3 - 1942

The Winged Victory was removed from the Louvre on Septeember 3, 1939 because the curators were afraid that the outbreak of war in Europe could lead to violence in Paris, perhaps even bombing of the museum. The original photo is credited to Noel de Boyer.
