Church of St Nicholas Bedestan Nicosia Cyprus Built in the 12th century as an extension to a small 6th century Byzantine church. Dedicated to St. Nicholas, it was associated with Thamas à Becket. In the 16th century it became the Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  Closed by the Ottomans, it became a grain store and cloth market, or bedestan. In poor condition with the roof collapsed and structural damage, restoration was a project of the United Nations Development Programme.

11th C This reconstruction was based on icon depicting the Saints George and Theodore and dates to the first half of the 11th century. The icon is found in the church of "St. Nicholas of the Roof", in the area of Kakopetria, in Cyprus. The artisan is Dimitris Katsikis from Athens, Greece.
