Church of St Nicholas Bedestan Nicosia Cyprus Built in the 12th century as an extension to a small 6th century Byzantine church. Dedicated to St. Nicholas, it was associated with Thamas à Becket. In the 16th century it became the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Closed by the Ottomans, it became a grain store and cloth market, or bedestan. In poor condition with the roof collapsed and structural damage, restoration was a project of the United Nations Development Programme.
