This rock crystal ewer is 1 of only 7 known in existence, now in collections across Europe. They were often in cathedral treasuries, rededicated after being captured from their original Islamic settings. Such high-quality rock crystal vessels were made for the rulers of Cairo during the Fatimid period (969-1171). This is confirmed by inscriptions which name specific rulers. Great skill was required to hollow out the raw rock crystal & carve the delicate, shallow decoration. #rock_crystal…

Faberge Goblet, Goblet Creator:  Mikhail Evlampievich Perkhin (1860-1903)  circa 1903. Aventurine quartz, gold, moonstone   Description:  Tapering goblet of aventurine quartz with red gold tripod stand and geometric scrolled feet, the struts of which are set with cabochon moonstone at the top. Goblet rests in gadrooned cup with bud shaped finial.  Mark of Michael Perchin; FABERGÉ in Cyrillic; gold mark of 56 zolotniks (1896-1908); English import mark for 1908
