The small rectangular cream enamel case with central oval-cut sapphire in diamond surround to the sapphire and diamond-set clasps opening to reveal a compartment, lipstick holder and mirror, chip to enamel near sapphire push piece, circa 1920, 5.9 cm. wide, with French assay marks for silver and gold.
An art deco enamel, aventurine quartz, diamond, platinum and eighteen karat gold compact, France designed with a central carved floral pattern, bordered by rows of aventurine quartz, accented by rose-cut diamonds set in platinum, opening to reveal powder and blush wells and a beveled edge mirror; signed SAM, reference #1295, imported to England 1927-1928, with pouch. dimensions: measuring approximately 3 3/16 x 1 9/16 x 1/2in. (minor loss to enamel)
